Every treatment plan addresses what you’re eating and we’ll work to make recommendations that’ll meet you where you’re at. By using nutritional approaches, we can address a large pillar in the foundation of health. Clinical nutrition can be used strategically to support hormone health, prenatal health, cardiovascular health, skin health and many other areas of care.
Lifestyle management is at the heart of health - lifestyle factors are foundational to healing and optimizing health. By addressing sleep, stress management, mood - we can have greater, more sustainable, long-term results. When addressing lifestyle, we may discuss stress-coping mechanisms, social connections and support, physical activity (types of exercise, timing of exercise), sleep hygiene and other contributing lifestyle factors.
NATURAL HEALTH PRODUCTS/SUPPLEMENTATION
Natural Health Products (NHPs; often referred to as supplements) may include vitamins, minerals, and botanical/herbal medicine. Natural health products are chosen and recommended on an individual basis - what works for one person may not work (or even be safe) for the next person. Safety, efficacy and relevancy is also taken into consideration - and great efforts are made to ensure that there are no drug-herb or herb-herb interactions between your medications and/or supplements.
TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE (TCM): CONSTITUTIONAL ACUPUNCTURE, FACIAL REJUVENATION ACUPUNCTURE, LABOUR INDUCTION ACUPUNCTURE AND CUPPING
Acupuncture works to address the whole person - and approaches can vary, depending on the condition(s) treated. As a Naturopathic Doctor, I primarily use the Traditional Chinese Medicine approach and work to provide fertility support, prenatal support, labour induction, mood support and sleep support. Acupuncture performed in-office can be claimed under most Naturopathic Medicine benefits/coverage (acupuncture benefits apply to licensed Acupuncturists). For new patients, an initial visit is required, but existing patients are welcome to book a 30-minute acupuncture follow-up.
For more information on how acupuncture can vary between providers, check out this article.
Cupping therapy is also used in-office to support muscle tension and stress management. If you’d like to learn more about how and why cupping works, read this.
Hydrotherapy practices are not utilized in-office, but are recommended as treatments to practice at home. Hydrotherapy is beneficial for all ages, and when used appropriately, it can be integrated into most individual self-care practices. For more information on what hydrotherapy is and how it works, read further here.
Naturopathic Doctors are equipped to utilize and requisition lab work for patients. Any lab testing done through your ND will require full payment, as these requisitions are not covered by Manitoba Health.
